Holiday gatherings connect us with each other, contributing to our emotional, psychological and social well-being. For many of us, however, these occasions can be a bittersweet time.
In this post I want to explore the importance of community for our emotional, psychological and social well-being, along with some ways to begin building relationships should you sense that your current ones are not optimal.
Conflict, in varying degrees, surfaces in all of our relationships whether it’s with family, friends, work colleagues or acquaintances. Each of us has needs, values and opinions and sometimes these differences collide, leading to conflict.
Low self-esteem can lead us to doubt our value and abilities. It can hold us back from exploring new growth or achieving long-desired dreams and goals or dealing with a life challenge or an unexpected obstacle we’re facing.
As women, when we enter our 40s, 50s, 60s or beyond we face many life transitions that can be challenging, overwhelming and painful. Transitions can be seemingly minor or can include more life-changing events like the ending of relationships or seeing our children head off to university or college.
