Anxiety

Develop the tools, strategies and life skills necessary to manage and redefine your relationship with anxiety, and feel more in control of your life.

Everyone experiences anxiety. Often it is helpful, alerting us to an unsafe situation or helping us to maintain our focus in completing a task or reaching a goal. However, anxiety becomes a problem when it increases its severity and begins to interfere with our effective functioning and the enjoyment of life.

There are various types of anxiety, such as social anxiety (fear of being embarrassed or judged by others), generalized anxiety (excessive worry about work, school and others areas of life) and panic disorder (persistent panic attacks). Anxiety symptoms present themselves in many forms and vary from person to person, for example ruminating thoughts; feeling anxious and nervous emotions; rapid heartbeat or stomach ache; or avoiding people and places.

Together, we will explore the factors that may be contributing to your anxiety, such as external stress, both historic and present, as well as your internal thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Assessing the useful ways you have been coping with anxiety can also inform the development of goals and a plan to manage it and restore the vitality of your daily life.
